The University of Tasmania recognises the importance
of the spiritual dimension to human life and its value in building
a socially just and caring community of students and staff. There
is a diversity of faiths within the University community and visiting
religious representatives work with students and staff with a variety
of beliefs to strengthen the sense of community and enrich the quality
of life for all.

HOBART
On the Hobart campus the University has developed a faith
centre, Alexander House, which provides offices, a chapel and
meeting place for university students and staff. Alexander House is located at 40 Alexander Street, Sandy
Bay, behind the TUU building. The contact number for the centre is (03) 6226 2697 (Student Services) and it is mostly open between 9.00am - 5.00pm.
A number of chaplains visit this centre regularly.
A prayer room and facilities for Muslim students and staff are
available on the Hobart campus. More details are available by phoning International Services reception
on (03) 6226 2706.
LAUNCESTON
Sr Elizabeth Vagg (Catholic) is available for students and staff
of all faiths from both the Australian Maritime College and the
University of Tasmania. She can be contacted by phone on (03) 6335
4708 or (03) 6335 4826 after hours.
A prayer room and facilities for Muslim students and staff are
available on the Launceston campus. The prayer room is located at
building 3, Old School Road, Newnham, on the right side of the University
Gym. Friday congregations, halal meat and other social activities
are also available and organised by Muslim Student Association of
Launceston (MSAL). For more details, phone International Services

The Lighthouse Christian Group is a student club affiliated with the Student Association. It exists to help people discover and grow in their faith and gain support from each other as students on campus. Lighthouse runs regular groups on campus, encourages mentoring and helps link people with churches around Launceston.
